25 000 light years from Earth discovered a huge planet eight times bigger than Jupiter
An international team of astronomers has discovered a world that is 2,500 times the size of Earth.
A planet called MOA-2011-BLG-322 about 8 times that of Jupiter, which is the largest planet in our solar system. Astronomers believe it orbits around a star, distant from us at a distance of 25 000 light-years and with a mass equal to a third of the Sun.
Huge world, exceeding the size of the Earth 2,500 times, was discovered by an international team of astronomers. Artistic representation of an unknown planet
As reported by Ian O’neill in Discovery News, the giant planet was discovered using a technology known as “microlensing”.
Microlensing uses the General theory of relativity of albert Einstein, which assumes that gravity is actually the curvature of space and time. Continue reading
Manned flights on the orbital stations
In the first decade of the era of manned spaceflight duration increased from 108 min to 18 days. Made in this period, medical and biological research (in the Russian ships “Vostok”, “Voskhod”, “Union”; in the U.S. project “mercury”, “Gemini”, “Apollo”) have proved the possibility of relatively short-term (up to 2-3 weeks) stay safe man in the space flight environment and active activities outside of the ship.
The most significant changes in the major systems of the human body were observed after flights. They were shown to decrease the body’s resistance to physical and orthostatic stress; impaired coordination of movements and regulation of the vertical posture; a reduction of body weight, hydration of the body, decreasing the volume of blood plasma and erythrocyte mass; asthenia. These changes in General increased with increasing duration of space flights and after flights, lasting 14 to 18 days, were practically significant.
Post-flight revealed improvements of indicated that to further increase the duration of flights you need to apply a system of appropriate protective and preventive measures that will facilitate adaptation of the human body to terrestrial conditions after the completion of the flight. One hundred years ago the world was captivated by the idea of the existence of a ninth planet in the composition of the solar system. But today, in the year 75-year-old.
…Pluto, astronomers around the world have for that “little” romantic feelings…
The existence of a ninth planet in 1905, predicted the American Percival Lowell, famous for his search for a civilization on Mars. According to the calculations of Lowell, beyond the orbit of Neptune is another large celestial body, having a direct connection with the solar system.
Lowell noticed deviations in the motions of Uranus and Neptune from calculated orbits and decided that this is due to the influence of more distant planets. The object of his hypothesis, Lowell called planet X, but its “real” opening it, alas, did not survive. Continue reading
