So what is the biggest planet known at the moment? In the spring of 2006 an event occurred that shook the theory about the heavenly bodies. She’s hot and like the Sun, but it’s still a planet. It was called TrES–4. Its dimensions exceed the dimensions of the largest planets in the solar system – Jupiter – 1.7 times. It is a giant gaseous ball. Is TrES–4 primarily of hydrogen. The largest planet is making revolutions around the star, which is located at a distance of 1400 light years. Temperaturnyi on its surface is more than 1260 degrees.

There are enough giant planets, but so far not openly bigger than TrES-4b. The largest planet size exceeds Jupiter more than 70%. A huge gas giant could be called a star, but its rotation around its star GSC02620-00648 definitely relates it to the planetary celestial bodies. Its density ranges from 0.2 g per cubic centimeter, which is comparable only with balsa (balsa) wood. Scientists and astronomers are baffled: how is this the largest planet with such a low density has the ability to exist. Planet TrES-4 is also called TrES-4b. His discovery was due to the astronomers-fans that discovered TrES-4 with a network of small automated telescopes located in the Canary Islands and in Arizona.

The pioneers were employees of Lowell, and later, the astronomers of Harvard University and the Hawaiian W. M. Keck Observatory confirmed the discovery.
